What is Network Engineering? What are the Responsibilities of Network Engineer


A network engineer is a technical expert with the skills necessary to plan, implement, and monitor computer networks that support home sound, data, video and wireless networks.

The responsibilities of a network engineer have more than a network administrator. The network engineer deals with planning, design and technical features, and Network the administrator is mainly on  day-to-day management, maintenance and problem-solving efforts.

Job titles can be divided by education and/or income. In general, a network engineer is more educated and earns more than a network administrator.

Responsibilities of a Network Engineer

Network engineers are focusing on providing high-availability network infrastructure to continue information technology work on online and customer sites. 

Network engineers often split up with other functions, such as computer network architects or security engineers, and work with internal or external consultants.

Network engineers design and implement network configurations, resolve performance issues, manage network monitoring, and configure security mechanisms such as firewalls. 

They often inform CIOs, CIOs, and other business leaders about discussing and defining common business objectives, policies, and network status updates. In most cases, network engineers work with project managers and other engineers to manage capacity and provide remote or local support.


Eligibility for a network engineer

Many universities and other organizations offer network engineering training programs. To get an entry level Network engineer job, needs an associate's degree, but most jobs require a bachelor's degree or additional experience in computer science.

 Many network engineers come from the fields of electrical engineering, physics or mathematics. For most engineers, additional qualifications and training are associated with the Cisco Engineers Certification Program, which provides five levels of training.

Other certifications include vendors from Juniper Networks, Microsoft, Aruba, Alcatel-Lucent, Riverbed Technology Inc., Solar Winds, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Extreme Networks Inc. IPV6 Forum.

In addition to technical skills, network engineers require analytical, leadership and organizational skills. Attention to detail and problem solving are important. Engineers need to be able to understand complex networks, identify problems, or suggest ways to improve them.

They can work together to advise the network engineer job, as well as with other engineers and support staff. They should be flexible to work with engineers and business colleagues who don't know the networks.

Reflecting the growing role of automation and software-defined networks, network engineers need to be aware of applications and software development. 

Therefore, engineers need to understand traffic flows, application priority, and data transfer. In addition, engineers need to know about hyper-convergence, virtualization, security, containers, wide area networks, and storage engineering
